Permits and Records

Building Permits: Residents planning construction or property improvements should contact the Village Office to determine whether a permit or other approval is required.

All submitted building permits go to our Planning and Zoning Board for approval. These are discussed at their meetings on the 1st Wednesday of the month at the Community Building. Once they are approved there, they also need to be approved by our Board of Trustees who meet the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Permit applications require a fee of $25 before they can be submitted to Cass County.

The building permit application can be found here and can be emailed to the Village Clerk or dropped off at the Village Office.

Pool Permits:

Dog Licenses: Cass County requires dogs to be licensed through the village office. Each dog license is $20 and we will issue a tag with a registration number. All dogs must have an up to date rabies vaccine. Dog license applications can be found here and are due no later than September 1st every year for current residents and as soon as possible for new residents moving in.

Nehawka

Aerial Map of Nehawka Nebraska

Nehawka is a small village located in Cass County in Southeast Nebraska. Settlement began with a sawmill in 1855 along Weeping Water Creek and the village was platted in 1887 when the Missouri Pacific Railroad was extended to the area. Nehawka was regionally known for its limestone quarries, apple orchards, and manufacture of concrete mixers. Today, Nehawka consists of a Post Office, First State Bank, the Nehawka Angels Post 157 Legion Baseball Field, Frontier Cooperative, our local playground, and about 200 residents.
